Are you aware about the scholarships given by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India?

I can proudly say this – I didn’t pay any fee for getting my CA degree! My fees for CA course were waived and the Institute gave Merit scholarship during my Articleship program (1991). Today I thought of writing about the scholarship and fee concession programs of CA Institute. I am grateful to our Institute for helping me and many other people from poor financial backgrounds.

Merit Scholarship: The students whose names appear between Sl.No.1 and 10 of the Merit list of Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Intermediate Exam (IPC) are eligible for monthly scholarship. CPT students will get Rs.1500 per month for 18 months and IPC students will get Rs.2000 per month (for the remaining period of Articleship or a maximum of 30 months)

Merit cum need based scholarship: The students whose names appear in the Merit list of Rank holders and whose parents’ total income is less than Rs.1,50,000 per year are eligible for Rs.1500 per month. Total 60 scholarships are awarded every year under this category.

Need based and weaker sections scholarships: Students of Intermediate and Final course are eligible to apply for this scholarship, provided the total annual income for their parents is less than Rs.100000. The selected 500 students will get Rs.1250 per month as scholarship during their Articleship period.

Scholarship under Endowment Schemes: In addition to the above, scholarships are also awarded under different Endowment Schemes created by Individual donors/Joint Corpus formed by donors.

Fee Concession Scheme for differently abled students: The institute gives fee concession/exemption for differently abled students such as people suffering from blindness, low vision, leprosy cured, hearing impairment, permanent and total loss of voice, etc. These students are eligible for full exemption from payment of registration and tuition fees.

Fee concession scheme for children of military and para military forces: The children of military and para-military forces who are studying Chartered Accountancy course and who have lost either of their parents in action are exempted from payment of tuition and registration fees.

Fee concession/exemption for Meritorious Students: First three rank holders of CPT will be granted full exemption from the payment of registration and tuition fees at the time of registration for IPCC including registration fee for 100 Hours Information Technology Training. Such fee exemption will be continued at the time of registration for Final Course provided the student passes both groups in IPCE in the first attempt
