Eating at hotels? Read to know a 12 year old kid’s version

This Sunday I had been to a house warming function. At the function, I was spending time conversing with small kids. I asked one of the kids (around 12 years old) about eating at hotels. She gave a list of reasons for not eating out! I have reproduced the list below –

  1. Waste of Petrol  – (for going to hotel)
  1. Time – (a lot of time will be spent visiting hotel)
  1. Money – It is a waste of money
  1. Food – We eat only half of what we order and waste quite a good portion of the food
  1. Not sure about the quality of items used to prepare food
  1. Not sure whether they have cleaned the vegetables.
  1. They use too much oil – not good for health
  1. Increase in weight –  by eating oily and calorie rich food, we put on weight
  1. The hotels are not hygienic. They won’t clean plates properly. She said “One day she had panipuri from a street cart at V V Puram. I saw the person just dipping the used plates into a bucket (of water which had almost turned black in color). That’s it. He then used the same plate for another person”
  1. Heavy rush in hotels – wherever you go, you have to wait. There will be heavy rush in hotels and I hate to wait!

Finally, she said “once in a while it is okay to go (when I get bored), otherwise, I like home food”

Believe me readers; this is exactly what the 12 year old kid told me. I have not added one word extra.

She concluded by saying “Uncle why are you asking me about it? You have to tell these things to me. Instead asking me, Buddhuram” and then she ran away to play with other kids.

Friends, if you have the facility of eating at home, consider it a luxury.

Do you still prefer hotel food? Choice is yours!

Thought for the day

To eat is a necessity; but to eat sensibly is an art
