Some people think that if they have a small car or an old model car it is humiliating a shame in the society. So, they cultivate the inferiority complex and try to cover it. For example, when they have to attend a function, they park their vehicle away from the venue. (So, that no one can make out the type or the model of their car)
If their peer or friend mentions that they have bought a new Honda city, they immediately respond that even their husband was about to book BMW during last week. But you know what happened …. (‘About to book’, followed by dangerous word “But”, means it is a lie)
Some people have inferiority complex of staying in a small house. When their guests turn up, they will somehow bring a topic “We looked at Falcon Prestige Project, a 4 bedroom, But you know it is far away and very inconvenient….. (BUT means False Prestige Project!)
“Where is your son studying?” We wanted him to study at Canadian International School, we even got application Form and my husband’s friend is very close to Kumaraswamy and they promised us a seat there, you know seat was never a problem. But my son was very keen about MMS School. So, we dropped the idea for the time being (this is important, meaning still the options are open.Unwanted show off)
“When is your daughter’s exam?” Suddenly out of nowhere the topic of daughter’s exam comes during the conversation. The intention is not to know about exam, but to say that in their daughter’s school there is no exam till 7th Standard. Their school is quite different from the lot! They teach 2+2, you know in this way….(which way? The way of hype)
“Wait I will give you tirupati Laddu” (will give a very small portion of the laddu, not even enough for one bite!) and your reaction will be “Oh when did you go?: Yes, that was the most wanted question and the answer is readymade, “ we went last Sunday, left home at 5 am and reached there by 9 am (to show that they drive very fast) and again we left tirupati by 6 in the evening and reached at 10 pm. The follow up question is “on the same day? and the another readymade answer – Ya, you know my brother in law has good very good contacts there. We didn’t stand in a queue, he just got us VVIP darshan, so fast, in fact, 2 had darshan twice (extra mileage – to show that they have influence even at Tirumala temple, maybe with Lord Venkateshwara also)
Lord Venkateshwara – why these people have false prestige! Even if you are having a small car or an old car or kids studying at nearby ordinary school, how does it matter to your friends? You are worried that they will think cheap of you, is it?
Be yourself. If they think cheap, it’s their problem. Leading a dignified and peaceful life is what matters, finally. Let us not become member of False Prestige Club.
