(Cast – Prakash Rai, Sneha and Others)
I think it was in early 1990 (maybe 1992), when I moved to Bangalore from Ujire that I started watching TV. The serial ‘Guddada Bhootha’ was being telecast in Black & White on DD Channel.
I still remember his face. He was slim and had sharp eyes. Mr.Prakash Rai was very sharp in his dialogues and sometimes he used to speak so fast that I found it difficult to understand. Sometimes Iasked myself “Why he speaks so fast? What is the hurry to complete the dialogue!”
From there to now, a lot has happened. Mr. Prakash Rai has become Prakash Raj. He would have put on at least 40 Kgs extra! A TV artist on DD channel has grown to Hero in all South Indian languages! What a growth in 23 years! But the only thing which I feel is the same as in 1990’s is his sharp eyes.
Prakash Rai is a Bangalore boy, born in 1965, studied at St.Joseph’s College. I read that he was performing or acting in theatre for a mere Rs.300 per month. He has acted in over 1000 theatre shows. When it comes to films, he started his career in Kannada film industry. But he gained popularity in Tamil Cinema. Today he is one of the most sought after actors in Tamil, Telugu, Malayam and Hindi film industry.
Two years back I watched his previous film ‘Naanu Matthu Nanna Kanasu’ and it was a fantastic emotional movie. In fact, I found itvery difficult to control my tears!
With this background, I couldn’t wait to watch his latest release ‘Oggarane’, directed and acted by him. He has released this movie in Telugu (Ulavacharu Biryani) and in Tamil (Un SamayalArayil) also. This film happens to be a remake of Malayam super hit ‘Salt N Pepper’
This movie is Superb! There is no violence, no crime, no fight, no ugly scenes; it’s a 100% family entertainer. Mr.Prakash Rai is brilliant with his expression and dialogues. I needn’t narrate the story; but I feel you can watch this movie. You won’t regret the time spent. The advantage is you can watch it in your mother tongue – Kannada, Telugu or Tamil.
Let me conclude with the saying enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things
