Hope you all have had a good weekend.
Today is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and this day is celebrated as the National Youth Day in India. I would like to extend my warm wishes to you all on this occasion.
I am hopeful that you all might know a little about Swamiji ’s life. If not, I would suggest some reading. His teachings have had a profound effect on many noteworthy personalities, including our Prime Minister. I would not like to delve into them as of now; but would like to share some thoughts on what it means to be a ‘youth’ in today’s India.
We are amongst the youngest nation in the world. It is our fertile soil that has been touched by the feet of many a great people, in whose ideals, if judiciously adopted, we, as the country’s youth, can foresee a bright future. But I do concede, & with much sadness, that the current age is one where we are forced to lament the loss of everything that was once, as a nation, dear to us – honesty, hard work, brotherhood and above all, innocence. If the world were just as idealistic – I would be the first one to consider myself an outsider; there is much to be done.
Is there hope? Can we change all this?
Of course yes! There is. We can change the ills in our lives and those around us. Isn’t the saying in our meeting room apt?
– “Stand up, be Bold, be Strong. Take the whole responsibility on your shoulders and know that you are the creator of your own destiny. All the strength and succor you want is within yourself”
We all know what we need to do to change our lives for the good. All we need to do now, is take that first step.
“If you want to have life, you need to die every moment for it.”
– Swami Vivekananda
